Development of Collaborating Embedded Systems - A Key Competence for the Future
With the transition from classical embedded systems to networked, collaborating embedded systems, a wide range of new applications for German industry is emerging. The ability of a company to efficiently develop collaborating embedded systems of the highest quality will therefore become a decisive competitive factor. At the same time, this transition will also lead to a leap in the complexity of the systems under consideration. It is no longer only individual embedded systems that have to be considered, but also networks of collaborating embedded systems that are created dynamically at runtime. Since the product success in the area of embedded systems is strongly determined by their quality, it is necessary to be able to guarantee the system quality despite the increasing complexity. Therefore it is essential to be able to control the complexity of collaborating embedded systems with efficient methods.
In the funded projects "Software Platform Embedded Systems" (SPES2020) and the follow-up project SPES_XT, the basics for a comprehensive methodical construction kit for the continuous model-based development of embedded systems were developed. The methods and tools developed in SPES 2020 and SPES_XT make it possible to master the complexity of embedded systems in the development process and thus efficiently develop high-quality embedded systems. Therefore, the results of the SPES projects form an excellent starting point towards the next level of complexity, which will be achieved with the development of collaborative embedded systems. It is therefore of great importance for companies in German industry to find an entry into this technology in order to consolidate their position as pioneers and to be able to compete internationally in the future.
The future project "Collaborative Embedded Systems" (CrESt) aims to create a comprehensive framework for the development of collaborating embedded systems that addresses the novel challenges in the development of collaborating embedded systems in dynamic system networks on the basis of the SPES development methodology and thus gives German industry a decisive competitive advantage in these promising and important fields of application.
